It’s that time of year again…when brand new samples have begun arriving in our studio and we’re finishing up next seasons’s list of products. Our Fall catalog photoshoot is happening in a week and the whole office is bustling in preparation!

Lorena and I were tasked with having to revisit our old catalogs in preparation for our meeting with the photographer. Talk about a trip down memory lane! Some of these Lorena had already forgotten we had done. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come since 2007!

**DID YOU KNOW: Our very first catalog (shown directly below) was shot by Lorena and her talented friends while on vacation in Buenos Aires, Argentina.**

It’s only the second month in to 2013 and we’ve already set a new record for ourselves, having exhibited at over SEVEN different trade shows in just these two months! We only just finished showing at NYIGF with our own booth, which was a huge success. Our last show for this Spring 2013 season will be at the San Francisco International Gift Fair in mid Feb (see below for details).

I have been dying to show off our complete Spring 2013 collection but some things are still in production and not yet available in our shop but don’t worry, they’re coming soon! In the meantime, check out our “NEW” section at petitcollage.com for what’s currently available. We have already introduced brand new prints on wood, lovely new collections of fabric wall decals, and jumbo wood prints!

Many thanks to all our customers, old and new, for stopping by to browse our products. If we didn’t see you in NY or the other shows in January, we hope to see you in SF!

Monkey See, Look at Me, published by Penguin, is the first American picture book I’ve written AND illustrated. I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally see it come to life!

This book was originally inspired by toddlers and their curious nature. I started working on it when my daughter was a just a little baby (she’s now 3!). So yes, some books do take forever! I can’t tell you how surreal it was to actually read this book to my own toddler daughter.

Monkey See, Look at Me by Lorena Siminovich is available at Amazon.com, B+N.com, and Indiebound.

For this year’s Renegade Craft Fair, we wanted to give fans a surprise. We decided on making a homemade photo board and holding a contest: take your photo at our booth and enter to win a gift card good for petitcollage.com!

We bought our materials at Scrap, which by the way, is quite a place to shop for art materials. Everything there is donated for reuse; one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!  An overside piece of foam board, plus additional accessories were all under 5 bucks!

All in all, our photo board was a hit at the show! Here are some of our favorite cuties.

And of course, how could we forget to take a photo of us using it too? Here’s Heather and Lorena on Sunday afternoon.

There’s been a lack of posts because we’re rushing to get samples ready for the upcoming Fall 2012 shows. But look what just came in!

We’ve got robots on the mind for our new Petit Collage fabric wall decals…

Our brand new paper strand mobiles started out as an idea to turn our love of patterned papers and hanging mobiles into an affordable gift. The design brief was very specific too: It needed to suit any room in the contemporary house.

Here’s a little peek behind the scenes on our process.

After figuring out what imagery we wanted for each mobile design, I started testing out the idea using the vast amounts of scrap papers we have in the studio.

What makes these mobiles special is the fact that they’re sewn together. I dug out my old sewing machine from home to sew the samples together. We had too many prototypes hanging in our studio for weeks while I figured out details in hanging lengths, that it almost turned into a curtain of paper. It lead to a lot of us accidentally running into them!

The fun part was working on the final art. It meant having to scour our vast amounts of vintage and collected papers looking for the right patterns and colors.

I’m pretty happy on how these turned out. Petit Collage paper strand mobiles are available in our shop at www.petitcollage.com and retails for $15.

Just a quick sneak peek to our wooden plaques with personalization option. You can even add a birth date, how cool is that?

Nine designs are now available in our new website, more designs coming, tell us what you would like to see.

All designs here.
