It’s been so long since I’ve been able to sit down and put together a Lorena’s Picks for our blog. But when you run a small business like me, it’s hard to find the time; too many things to do and meetings to go to! Now that our Spring 2013 collection is coming together, our once hectic schedule is calming down. Look forward to more Lorena’s Picks over the weeks!

This Lorena’s Picks is inspired by our brand new Petit Collage USA map Jumbo board. Not only is it designed in the U.S. (ahem, in California), but it is printed directly on FSC-certified birch grown in the U.S. as well. Researching the different states and icons was a lot of fun, especially since I am from Argentina and not 100% familiar with everything here. It was as if I did my own little virtual “road trip” across the country! And thinking of road trips, you can’t possibly have one with the kids without the accessories shown above (minus the wall art, or course).

All this traveling for trade shows has me with airplanes in my mind. It’s only fitting I do a travel-inspired Lorena’s Picks.

I’m off to Seattle tomorrow, New York is next week. Off I go!

Although the jetlag is taking the best of us, I still wanted to write an update on our trip.

Here’s the good news:
1.We’re finally back!
2.Food was awesome
3.The trip was very productive!

As Petit Collage continues to expand its offering, we went to Hong Kong and China to visit factories, trade shows and meet with our agents, who overview our sourcing and quality control. While the majority of our line is made in the USA, demand grows for more affordable gifts items so we’re now searching for the best manufacturers around the globe who are aligned with our environmental responsibility and ethical standards. Hence, it was important to see them in person.

Annie, our senior designer, and I embarked on a 6 day adventure with a packed agenda, comfortable shoes, and loads of coffee.

Here some snapshots of our trip:

Clockwise top to bottom: Lorena and the view from Tsim Tsa Tsui, afternoon dessert at our hotel, beautiful hanging gardens, colorful ferry destined for Hong Kong, modern airport carpet, even more desserts, peking duck at the convention center of all places (!!!), instant taxi button.

On the way to our flight, look what we spotted in the San Francisco airport’s MOMA store. Our Petit Collage San Francisco print on wood!
